Making a World of Difference Worldwide
Medical Air Services Association (MASA Assist) was founded in 1974 by Frank Halley as a Health Maintenance Organization. In 1985, after the company’s fleet of fixed-wing jet aircraft had been used by the UCLA Medical Center to transport donor organs, Mr. Halley recognized the need for an air ambulance service. In fact, he had a vision: to help people wherever in the world they traveled, and at an affordable price.
An Agreement with our Members
MASA Assist not only realized that vision, but created (and copyrighted) the industry-standard Membership Agreement, along with the ten basic member benefits offered by most pre-paid air ambulance providers throughout the U.S. – emergency air transportation, organ retrieval, organ recipient transportation, repatriation/recuperation, return transportation, escort transportation, non-injury transport, minor children return, vehicle return and mortal remains transport.
40 years and one million members later, MASA Assist continues to work hard every day to honor and serve the best membership agreement in the industry – because that’s our agreement with our members.
Quality Care in the Air and on the Ground
Whether they’re at home, on the job or traveling the world, MASA Assist is there to provide our members with best-in-class emergency medical transportation, and protect them from catastrophic financial loss. We have qualified and experienced personnel trained as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Paramedics, Registered Nurses and Physicians. Our medical crews, pilots, support staff – even our phone operators – are all on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and thoroughly trained to handle each call with expertise and care.
We are not insurance adjustors; we are an association of professionals who care about our members and will do anything possible to help them through a medical emergency. We treat our members as we would like to be treated. We treat them like family.
This is why we offer our services for a low annual membership fee that will never increase as long as membership is maintained. That’s also why all flights and services are covered completely free of cost. But what we don’t have is just as important:
- No deductibles
- No claim forms
- No age limits
- No health questions
- No dollar limits
Location, Location, Location
We know that to better serve our members, we need to be as close to them – and where they’re going – as possible. To that end, MASA Assist has become an increasingly international company, now with offices in the USA, Bermuda, Nassau (Bahamas), Freeport (Bahamas), Eleuthera (Bahamas), Abaco (Bahamas), St. Thomas (USVI), St. Croix (USVI), Antigua, St. Kitts, Trinidad, Tobago, Tortola, BVI Jamaica, Anguilla, Grenada, St. Vincent, and St. Lucia.
Changing – and Improving – with the Times
As this company has evolved, MASA Assist has adapted to the changing needs of a mobile working class and the availability of specialized medical care not available locally. In addition to the strong base of retail members we’ve accumulated since Day One, we’ve spent the last ten years developing our group business. With our weekly commission and royalties, we’ve been growing at a higher rate, allowing us the “buying power” to improve our overall service offering. Our group partners now include such high profile entities as the International College of Surgeons, the Neptune Society, the Air Force Association, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and many more, including 26 different retired teacher associations and the entire governments of several Caribbean nations.
With Frank Halley still at the helm, and his vision still guiding the way, there’s no doubt MASA Assist will continue to be an innovator in the industry, and a lifesaver to its members.
